Rachel Moss has been teaching English/Language Arts within the Irvine Unified School District for over nine years, both in K-12 private schools and after school enrichment academies. After receiving her Masters in Education and California Teaching Credential, Rachel spent four years teaching middle and high school English at Tarbut V’Torah in Irvine, where she also sat as the 6th grade chair, spearheaded the only internship based H.S. elective course in developmental psychology, and organized after school writing workshops.  Rachel then spent a year teaching English abroad in Spain, after which she returned to begin working at AOI College of Languages, coordinating and instructing Book Club, Writing, and N.I.E. courses within the Korean Community of Irvine. For the past 10+ years, Rachel has built a strong reputation with our students and parents as a top-quality educator and expert in her field. In addition to her rich background, professional experiences and passion, Rachel Moss brings with her a comprehensive core literacy program from which she creates a progressive classroom community of engaged students who are connected to the curriculum and their own process of learning.

Students need to develop process-based skills that enable them to use and expand their knowledge, think critically, analyze information, communicate their ideas effectively, and collaborate with others along the journey.

Our comprehensive, integrated critical literacy program is designed around metacognitive conversations and "reading to write" initiatives that allow students to embark upon a variety of inquiry quests through great literature, the process of writing, and their own academic identity.
